Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to discuss why their beloved club allowed Kevin Mbabu to depart St James’ Park, as the 23-year-old has taken his game to a new level throughout his time with Swiss Super League side Young Boys.
Mbabu has excelled in Switzerland, and has become a full international since departing Tyneside, playing regular first-team football as well as competing in the Champions League. Mbabu made just three Premier League appearances for the Magpies in his four seasons at the club, and was always a peripheral figure at the club.
However, since then, he has proven everyone at Newcastle wrong to say the least, and is now subject of a £9m bid from Bundesliga side Schalke, another club who regularly compete in Europe’s biggest club competition – the Champions League.
